Editorial
As one of the most frustrating aircraft I’ve ever had the pleasure of flying before, the DHC6-300 Super Twin Otter is something that I have very little time for. However, I have to admit that this is down to my own failings as a pilot rather than the aircraft itself!
With that in mind, I was quite eager to find a new aircraft to fly on a train journey on my old FS2004 laptop. Low and behold, I came across this mod to try out – and I have to say that it has done a spectacular job of helping me re-align my opinions of the aircraft itself.
Included Authenticity
Obviously the first aspect of any good mod is how realistic it is, and this mod does a great job of making sure you can really feel the realism. It’s got plenty of liveries included as well as various other effective additions such as some really high quality panels, views and even sounds. It makes a very presentable option for anyone who wants to engage with an aircraft that looks just like the real thing.
Another really impressive factor of this mod, though, is the fact that it includes new views to try out. I loved having extra angles to fly from as it let me see a lot of interesting factors that I would not have recognized in flights otherwise
Excellently Detailed
Given that this was made with GMax, I was very impressed with just how good it looks when compared to more modern modifications out there. It’s very impressive in the shape and style of the aircraft but it also comes with the extra details of things like exit doors, 4-bladed props and even a fresh and dynamic shine that emits from the aircraft.
In short, it looks absolutely spectacular and gives me all the help that I needed to have to fly with authenticity using this aircraft. Realism really matters to me and with this mod it’s just ripping out of the model and the actual flight style. With proper dynamics and designs to make sure it looks and flies seriously, this really does feel like a privilege to take off with.
It’s a great tool to fly around with but it also gives me total control over the whole aircraft with some much needed additions that were lacking from FS2004 in the main.
I would happily recommend this to anyone who wants to fly an aircraft that feels fun and engaging to mess around with, as well as for genuine fans of the Otter.
